Dead of Winter is a 2 - 5 player meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition — but for each individual player to achieve victory, he must also complete his personal secret objective.
Dead of Winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition — but for each individual player to achieve victory, he must also complete his personal secret objective. This secret objective could relate to a psychological tick that's fairly harmless to most others in the colony, a dangerous obsession that could put the main objective at risk, a desire for sabotage of the main mission, or (worst of all) vengeance against the colony! Certain games could end with all players winning, some winning and some losing, or all players losing. Work toward the group's goal, but don't get walked all over by a loudmouth who's looking out only for his own interests!
Dead of Winter is an experience that can be accomplished only through the medium of tabletop games. It's a story-centric game about surviving through a harsh winter in an apocalyptic world. The survivors are all dealing with their own psychological imperatives, but must still find a way to work together to fight off outside threats, resolve crises, find food and supplies, and keep the colony's morale up.
Dead of Winter has players making frequent, difficult, heavily- thematic, wildly-varying decisions that often have them deciding between what is best for the colony and what is best for themselves.
Bought this game for my boyfriend's birthday. It's well worth the price - we have played this game about ten times over the last month alone and it's a real challenge but very fun to play with 3+ people. Everyone is suspicious from the get-go about a possible betrayer and pointing out the inconsistencies in your play. Great horror game as you play out surviving a zombie apocalypse!
This is a great game. I bought it as it is reviewed as one of the best regarded games, and I wasn't disappointed. If you like a game involving relationships, a bit of betrayal, intrigue and a narrative, then you will like this. Credit is due for the delivery also. I have bought from this site a couple of times, and it is much better than Amazon, where you get stung with the pricey delivery options, and then have to wait a week or more as it comes from the UK. I ordered this on Friday and it arrived on Monday morning.
The family love it, want to play all the time. I deducted 1star as i haven’t played it myself yet, it is not easy and takes time...but I’m looking forward to enjoying it as much as my family when I can update my review to 5 stars! Guaranteed to keep them busy on rainy days :+1::+1:
Great game for experienced gamers or new players that don't mind a bit of complexity. I think it could be taught to kids 12+ that have played more complex games before.
Love the traitor element, love the game replay value, it's been a hit with friends for halloween game nights and with colleagues.
When you spend 2 hours backstabbing and accussing your friends only for zombies to overrun and destroy your colony
That the box does not have a better designed insert for storing the many many pieces.
Also...well worth a watch on tabletop with Wil Wheaton
Really enjoyable game.
